Fire-Rated Glass & Glazing Calculator

Determine fire-rated glazing requirements for walls, doors, and transoms based on IBC and NFPA requirements.

Required for exit enclosures and some corridors
May require safety glazing in addition to fire rating

Fire-Rated Glazing Classifications

Fire Protective (FP)

Prevents flame and gas passage for the rated time. Does NOT limit radiant heat transfer. Typical: wired glass, ceramic glass. Limited to 100 sq in in doors (1+ hour).

Fire Resistive (FR)

Provides flame protection AND limits temperature rise to 450F. Required for exit enclosures and where large glazing areas are used. Typical: gel-filled, intumescent glass.
